We’re enormously proud to celebrate the 20-year milestone of three Aquinas teaching legends. Isabel Jeftha, Senior School Assistant Principal, Year 8 Dean and teacher Peter Braid, and PE teacher Marty Lee have each given two decades of service to our college and Catholic education.
It’s an extraordinary feat and we are truly grateful for their commitment and dedication. Without question, each has had a significant impact on our community and the hundreds of Aquinas students they have taught.
To commemorate the 20-year achievement, a celebration with friends, family and staff was held recently. Their names are now etched on the school’s honour board of long-serving staff, just below foundation staff members Trudy O’Connor and Moira Ramsbottom (now retired.)
Mr Lee, who is also a foundation staff member, retired in 2022 but undertook a block of service in 2023 for Mr Watson during his sabbatical. Mrs Jeftha and Mr Braid are still nurturing the minds of Aquinas students.
Known for his fun and lively approach, Mr Lee has a special knack for connecting with students. As a 2003 staff member, he played a key role in shaping the character of Aquinas and has been a steadfast supporter of the Touchstones.
Mrs Jeftha has been the face of Aquinas’ pastoral care, and throughout the decades has demonstrated an unflappable demeanour and genuine caring for students. She has held several teaching roles, from Year 7 and 8 teacher to Religious Education, and has served as Senior School Assistant Principal for more than 15 years.
Mr Braid’s relaxed and pragmatic approach, coupled with his story-telling talents, is legendary in the Year 7 and 8 Faculty. As with Mr Lee and Mrs Jeftha, students always want to be in his class. He too has been deeply committed to his Aquinas family and the success of our college.
We congratulate all three on this impressive career milestone and thank them for their service to our college and its students.
