A standing ovation for the AC Combo which was awarded bronze for its performance at the 46th National Youth Jazz Competition last week. It’s a fantastic result for the eight-member group given the few opportunities it had to rehearse together.
Forty-eight combos and 23 big bands from around NZ competed in the annual event, held at Baycourt. The AC group included: Ethan Peters (piano), Eric Shin (guitar), Daniel Moore (drums), Mia Knowles (saxophone), Nathan and George Homberg (saxophone), Akuhata Ngatai-Chote (bass guitar), Ned Shaw (trumpet) and Adele Arrowsmith (vocals).
They performed three pieces: “All Blues,” “Straighten Up and Fly Right,” and “Bésame Mucho”. Congratulations all – outstanding news for our talented musicians!
