This year, we have established a Year 12 Youth Ministry Team of students, who were largely part of the discipleship class in 2020. These students took a lead role in a connecting through prayer themed retreat for our Year 9s by giving their testimony, running activities, and leading different kinds of input by reflecting on their own living relationship with Christ. These students are growing in their confidence to share their faith with others and are authentically engaging in peer-to-peer ministry.
At the start of this term, some of our Youth Ministry team travelled to Sancta Maria, in Auckland, to be Christian Witnesses for their Year 10 students. They had an opportunity to share their journey of Youth Ministry, their own personal Encounter with Christ which led to a conversion of heart, and to support fellow peers who were learning to lead small group discussions. This was an extremely valuable experience, and the students enjoyed the opportunity to support fellow peers who were just setting out on their Youth Ministry journey.
The Youth Ministry Team is running their first Youth Night on Thursday, the 17th of June. There are two sessions planned for students in Years 6 to 8 and another, with the help of the NET team for Years 9 – 10. Please contact svanzyl@aquinas.school.nz for further details of the evening.
