Congratulations to Yr. 13 student, Aileen Harwood who was awarded the TrustPower Youth Community Spirit Award. The Award enabled her to donate $250 to a charity of her choice. As Aileen takes part in various Saint Vincent De Paul initiatives she decided to give the money to Meari Vickers, the co-ordinator of the Fullstop and Loaves & Fishes projects.
This year, Aquinas College has continued to support the Saint Vincent de Paul initiative of Loaves and Fishes. The group of year 11-13 students make lunches for children around Tauranga who would otherwise go without. This initiative puts into practise the values that students learn within Religious Education such as upholding human dignity and giving preferential option for the poor as well as the school Touchstone of Service.
A massive thank you goes to Meari who puts in so much time in effort into helping her community, as well as the students who give up their Tuesday mornings to take part in this project.
