Basketball Junior Boys: Junior Premiership, Tauranga
Football 1st XI Boys: Trident Cup, Palmerston North
Football 1st XI Girls: Kathy Seaward Tournament, Auckland
Hockey 1st XI Boys: Mayhill Cup, Rotorua
Hockey 1st XI Girls: Evelyn Hankers Memorial, Taupo
Netball Prem 1: UNISS, Tauranga
Rugby 1st XI: Rugby by the Beach, Tauranga

Thursday 6th September

HOCKEY 1st XI GIRLS
Great news from down in Taupo. Girls won against Onslow college 2-0. Goals to Ana Sutherland and Eliza Ward. That puts us playing for 5th and 6th tomorrow at 1.20pm.

FOOTBALL 1st XI
What a day! Very exciting first game in the rain, against Western Springs, despite losing 3-2.
Second game was mainly spent losing 1-0 in the rain, but the girls kept on pushing forward. A late equaliser by Lizzy took us to a penalty shoot off – which we won 4-2. Yay! Tails are up!
We’ll play off for 13th/14th out of 24 at 10am Friday, so all in all a pretty good tournament.

RUGBY 1st XV
Aquinas 1st XV were beaten by Mahurangi 19-7. Aquinas were the better team in the second half, however, an intercepted pass sealed the win for Mahurangi. Ben Lee played out of his skin consistently making yards. Taine Rush put all that work in the gym to good use to get over the line and get a try.

FOOTBALL 1st XI
Game 6 v Wairarapa High – this was always going to be a tough game. Wairarapa are the top team at this tournament and play very well – mostly senior students in this team. Our boys played well and never gave up but they were just outplayed by a much better team. The final score was 7-0 with an own-goal not helping the score line. I give our boys credit for their effort in miserable conditions.

NETBALL
Another great day for AC netball. A narrow loss to Otorohanga this morning in the cold wind and then a win against Albany Senior High this afternoon. Games tomorrow are at 8.30 am (vs Bay of Islands College) and 11.30am.

Wednesday 5th September 2018

FOOTBALL 1st XI GIRLS
We had our last pool game today and finished 4th, so we’ll play for 9-16th from now on, in the middle pool.

FOOTBALL 1st XI BOYS
Game 5 v Fielding High – Day 3 and bodies are getting tired. Our boys played a tough game this morning and defended well to secure a 0-0 draw. We seemed to be defending for much of the game and did well to stay in the game. In fact we had a chance to win the game right at the end of play with only the goal keeper to beat but it didn’t find the back of the net. A great opportunity lost.

HOCKEY 1st XI GIRLS
The girls played in the quarter final today against Takapuna Grammar.  Takapuna scored 2 quick goals – but from then on the sides were very evenly matched. Aquinas came back with a cracking goal from Ana Sutherland.  However, final score 3-1 to Takapuna.  They play tomorrow for 5th through to 8th position.

HOCKEY 1st XI BOYS
Another tough day at the office for the boys:
1-6 loss against Trident High School
2-4 loss against Western Heights High School

RUGBY
Day One saw the 1st XV Play the first game of the tournament against Fraser High, the boys played a great game and came out with a win 19-0.  Tries to Ben Lee x 2 and Taine x 1 with two conversions by Sean M

The second game of the day we played a fresh amped team Tauhara College, this was the first game of the day for them and our boys sore and stiff from the first game, just didn’t fire in the first half and then we did fire up it was too late and loss to AC 0 – 31.

Well done AC boys for playing tough hard rugby and not giving up till the final whistle blows.

NETBALL
Gorgeous weather at the Mount for two more tough netball games. ACG Strathallen this morning and Mercury Bay this afternoon. Despite the great support from Mr Kennedy, Mrs Tarr and some fabulous parents, we went down in both matches. Thursday we play at 11.30 and 4.30pm for the 13-16th placings.

Tuesday 4th September 2018
BASKETBALL
After a big weekend of competition, our Junior Basketball team had a tough finish to the championship today. In their final game they played Bethlehem College in the playoffs for 7th/8th. It was a really physical game with one of the BC boys fouled off in the last quarter. The game pushed to 1 hour 45 mins with the stop clock. The score was pretty even throughout, the lead switching between teams with no more than 8 points between the two. In the last quarter BC took the lead and ended up winning 68 – 62. A big thank you to the great coach Carl and manager Susan, and all the parents who turned up to support on the sidelines. It was great to see so many supporters there.

FOOTBALL 1st XI GIRLS
Two awesome games. Despite all the bruises and tape holding them together, they get better and better 0-0 draw this morning. Lost 3-1 to St Marys this avo (who’ve been winning 6-0 until they met our AC girls! )

FOOTBALL 1st XI BOYS

Game 3 v Ingelwood High – a close game in horrible conditions saw the AC boys toughing it out. We scored an early goal to lead at halftime 1-0 after some good defence. Midway through the second half we scored again through some nice passing phases. The rest of the game was tight and the boys did well to hold the opposition out to claim a 2-0 wiin !!

Game 4 v Katikati College – Katikati are a good side and play in a higher division back in Tauranga so we knew we were going to have to play well. Katikati scored first early in the match and had the run of play for much of the first half. Our boys defended well and with a nice play towards the end of the half, we managed to score an equaliser. The match was evenly balanced until a penalty shot was awarded to Katikati which they put in the net. They scored 2 more goals before they end of play to win 4-1.

HOCKEY 1st XI GIRLS
As they say winners are grinners. Girls played two games today. They drew the first game against Waiuku 1-1  goal to Charlotte Watson.  Their second game was at 8pm tonight v Fraser high school. They had a great game winning 1-0. Goal to Ana Sutherland. They are through to top 8 and play Takapauna Grammar at 2pm.

HOCKEY 1st XI BOYS
We went down 0-1 against Scots College.

NETBALL
A fantastic second day for the AC Premier netball team at Harbourside. A win over Rodney College saw us make top 16 in our grade. We were 19th last year so have a guaranteed improved result already. Into cross overs in the afternoon where we came up against a tough Tauhara team who took out a narrow win at the final whistle. A positive day all round and a great birthday for Taylor Verhoeven (16 today!). Games tomorrow are at 9am and 1.30pm.

MonMonday 3rd September 2018

FOOTBALL 1st XI GIRLS
First game was stolen! Lost 3-2 against Sancta Maria.
Second game was a well-deserved win against One Tree Hill (2-1 to AC)

FOOTBALL 1st XI BOYS
Game 1 v Rosehill College – The team went down 11-0.

Game 2 v Freyburg High – Down 2 – 0 at halftime, things were looking as bad as the weather but the boys managed to turn things around and score 3 very good goals to secure a great come from behind victory !!

HOCKEY 1st XI GIRLS
Girls played St Peters Cambridge and lost 2-1. A cracking goal to Eliza Ward.

HOCKEY 1st XI BOYS
Boys played against Takapuna Grammar in Rotorua this morning. That went down 3-0.

NETBALL
First up draw with John Paul College37-37. Then an afternoon loss to Auck Dio.
