Or 12 Economic students were “fizzing” with their three-day visit to Wellington. Highlights included the visit to Parliament House, where students experienced what it is like to be an MP inside the House of Representatives and learnt how policies and laws are made.
The groups’ favourite was the Press Gallery, where students (Kalarn Mark and Hamish Preston) role-played the Covid announcements, complete with taking questions from the media!
The students also enjoyed visits to Victoria University, NZ Treasury, Te Papa and Sharesies. The Sharesies story fascinated the students. The company have created a virtual platform for Kiwi to invest, without a minimum, in various funds and companies worldwide. It’s made investment possible for younger people, and our students were intrigued by the Sharsie corporate ‘flat’ culture around flexi-time, values and diverse student pathways to work.
