The Aquinas College Year 13 began their Outdoor Education course with the first trip of the year. The destination – the stunning Wairere Falls. At 153m it’s the highest waterfall in the North Island and is located in the Kaimai Ranges on the Matamata side.
Our students learned about the Maori significance of the area, its strong connection to the iwi of Tauranga Moana and Tainui, and its importance as a travelling route across the ranges. Students got to demonstrate their culinary skills by preparing a hot meal for their team – with varying degrees of success!
Thanks to Mr Watson, Mr Syme and parent help Steven Joseph.
