Voices of Hope Share Message of Mental Wellbeing

Senior students sat down with two leading authors, TikTokers and activists recently for an empowering conversation on how to look after their mental wellbeing.

Voices of Hope founders Genevieve Mora and Jazz Thornton, who have both battled mental illness, met with AC students last month to increase understanding of mental health challenges, promote help-seeking behaviours and resources, and ultimately spread hope.

Important themes discussed with our students included anxiety, low-moods and depression, and Jazz’s personal experience with OCD. The overarching message was one of hope and that speaking up about mental health problems is not weak.

Genevieve and Jazz visited Auqinas as part of a 15-school tour of the Bay of Plenty. We thank them both for the important message they are sending our rangatahi.
