Students living out the Touchstones were celebrated at the end-of-term Principal’s Morning Tea on July 6th, 2018. The College is founded on the values of Service, Joy, Scholarship, Prayer, Family and Truth. While sporting and academic achievements were also recognised, the Touchstone Awards remind students that Aquinas College is a Christ-centred school, hence one that acknowledges students living and acting as Jesus would.
Yr. 11 student Anmoldeep Khakh was recognised for the way she exemplifies the Touchstone of Joy in her subject classes, tutor class and while playing Netball representing the College. While giving 100% effort to all her pursuits, this humble and hardworking student consistently achieves high grades yet always has time to help others around her.
Yr. 7 student Isabella Jones received the award for Prayer. This student often leads her class in prayer and is fully committed to all aspects of school life. Her diligence, modesty and exceptional time management skills were also noted, together with the way she is always thoughtful and friendly to others.
Yr. 13 student Ethan Boggiss was awarded for Service. As part of the AC Army, the College’s Social Action group, Ethan collected and sold kindling to raise funds for students in need at Merivale School. His selflessness and compassion were noted. He was also thanked for the way he supports and encourages other students to live the Touchstone values.
An award for Truth went to Head Girl Jessica Phayer. As part of the Student Executive, Jessica was honoured for her ‘servant leadership’, for living out the Truth and for persevering in all circumstances.
Yr. 10 student Harriet Burton received the award for Family, recognising her care and concern for students with Special Needs within the school community. A Scholarship prize was given to Yr. 7 student Alana Aleksich. With hard work and determination, Alana has shown significant improvement in Mathematics and Literacy.
