On Wednesday 22 August we had a lunchtime football match between the Tauranga Police and the AC Football Tournament Team.
Conditions were far from ideal with the rain, however all braved the elements to take up the football challenge put up by Aquinas College. The first half was a bit patchy for the Police team struggling to get a rhythm together with passes not quite meeting the man and generally not coping with the speed of the young boys they were up against.
The AC team showed off their skills to their peers over the lunch period with some great team work and brilliant shots at goal. At half time, AC were in the lead 2 – 0.
With some major changes to the Police line up in the second half, they managed to pull themselves together and show some of their life skills and pulled the lead back slowly.
AC did not go down without fighting. The team worked together and had some great attempts at goal, however were unable to convert.
At the end of the match AC went down 2 – 5. A great time had by all. Thank you to the Tauranga Police for taking up our challenge, it was great to host you here at Aquinas College.
