Student Exec Profile: Health & Wellbeing

This year, our Health and Wellbeing Committee—led by Hunter Sands—is bringing positive energy, support, and awareness to Aquinas College through a packed calendar of events that promote both mental and physical wellbeing. It wants to help make our school a place where every student feels seen, heard, and supported.

🩷What’s happening this month?
May is all about kindness and community. Tomorrow (May 15), it’s Upstander Day—join us for pink karaoke at lunchtime to raise awareness and stand up to bullying. Throughout the week, share some positivity by posting a message at morning tea on the Sticky Note Wall in the courtyard. Look out for pink and yellow ribbons, and support our team’s effort in the 100k’s in 30 Days Challenge to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Support Services Tauranga Trust. Hunter, Head Girl Monique Faire, and several other senior students will be walking, running or cycling their way to 100km by the end of the month.

🗓️What’s coming up?
The rest of the year is just as exciting! In June, take part in the 40-Hour Famine (June 13–15). In Term 3, get ready for Shave for a Cure and our Women’s Refuge fundraiser. We’ll be hosting a Blood Drive on July 18, and wrapping up the winter with Daffodil Day on August 29. Plus, keep an eye out for our window positivity project, ongoing Kura Kai collections, and a mental health book stand launching at the end of Term 2.

💬Stay informed & get involved!
We’re also working to make important resources, especially around women’s health, more accessible. Expect updates and info displays throughout Term 2 and into Term 3. Watch this space, get involved, and let’s make 2025 a year full of kindness, connection, and action. 💪💛
