Winter Sports are soon coming to an end with some great results for our Aquinas College teams. Netball is into their finishing rounds now, with 13 of 18 teams making it through to the Semi Finals. Within the next month, Basketball will also complete quarter, semi and finals rounds.
It has also been a busy season for our four Rugby Teams. The 1st XV moved into Division 1 after the first round of games, the U15 team remained unbeaten during the season prior to the semi-final, our new U14 AC/TWOM team played consistently in the Championship League and the Amazons Year 7/8 girls are now playing in their second Seven’s competition, building confidences and numbers. Eight Aquinas boys across the Rugby Club have been selected for the main training squads for BOP Rep teams. Congratulations to these boys; U18 – Ben Lee, Sam O’Connor, Marshall Baker. U16 – Taine Rush, Darcy Hoskins. U15 – Toby Talyor, Trevel Gardiner Hano.
In Term 3 Aquinas College is involved in two Sports Exchanges (Campion College for Yr. 9/10 and John Paul College for Yr. 7/8). Winter Tournament Week for our Senior Teams is coming up in Week 7, followed by the AIMS GAMES for Yr. 7 and 8 students in Week 8.
In the Term 2 holidays, five Aquinas College year 7/8 boys – Christopher Berger, Brayden Stowers, Henry Scholes, Isaac Schuler and Jack Williamson, represented Aquinas College in the Tauranga East Team at the Tai Mitchell Representative Rugby Tournament in Rotorua placing third overall. All the boys did very well during the tournament with Brayden being invited to trial for Roller Mills, Christopher ending up the highest try scorer for the team, and Isaac & Henry being invited to play in a Yr. 7 Representative Tournament in Whakatane. Well done to all of them – a fantastic achievement and a promising future for the Aquinas College 1st XV.
