Aquinas College Sport Vision

To create an environment where students can freely participate and enjoy a quality sporting experience that reflects our Special Character.

Welcome to everyone in the Aquinas College community. A special welcome to those new families who are just beginning their sporting experience here at the college. We expect another busy and rewarding year in 2021 and look forward to continued growth and success over the coming months. After a tough year due to Covid-19 last year, we hope to return to normal in 2021.

The sporting year gets off to a quick start as competitions for Summer codes start very early. The information required to register for codes has been on the school website since the end of Term 4, 2020.

Later in Term 1 Winter codes begin – please keep checking the school website – it is a vital communication link for us.

Our first major school-wide sports event is Athletics Day on Friday 19 February. It’s a great way to start the sporting calendar with the whole school involved in this competitive but fun-filled event! Whanau/family are more than welcome to come and support this event.

N.B. As Athletics Day takes place at the Tauranga Domain, some events will be held at school before the 19th and students will need to check the school notices for details.

School swimming kicks-off with our Year 7/8 Swimming Sports on Wednesday 10 March at the Greerton Aquatic Centre. This event provides another opportunity for students to earn valuable House points. The students can choose to swim competitively or non-competitively if they are not confident swimmers.

The Year 9-13 Swimming Sports are a week later on Thursday 18 March at the BayWave Aquatic Centre. Students can register online for this event. Again, whanau/family are welcome to come and support these events.

I have been fortunate to have been granted Study Leave this year and begin my studies in March. Caitlin Tarr will take over my role as Director of Sport for the remainder of the year.

AC SPORT – COACHES

We are tremendously proud that 70% of our students are actively involved in sport at Aquinas College and appreciate that we would not be able to boast that amount of participation at our college without our parent support. We value and encourage the family’s involvement in all we do, and indeed, sport provides ample opportunities for families to do that. If any parents or extended family are interested in coaching or managing, please contact Mrs Caitlin Tarr. Please email: ctarr@aquinas.school.nz

We would appreciate any help or assistance you can give us!
