Shoes are something that most of us take for granted and we don’t know the struggle that other people have going without shoes. At Aquinas College we are fortunate enough to have shoes to keep our feet warm, but there are children in Tauranga going to school in bare feet, on cold frosty mornings.
This term the AC Army and Young Vinnies have collected in over 200 pairs of shoes from families at Aquinas that will benefit children around Tauranga. Along with this we held a bare foot day on the 22nd of May so that students and teachers at Aquinas learn what it is like for these children. For us this was a choice, for these children, it is their life. They don’t get the choice to wear shoes or not. We stood for these kids and showed them that we care about them.
This small initiative will put huge smiles on children’s faces.
Thank you to all families that got involved in this project, these children will be forever grateful!
