After a day back at school, students were asked what was the best and worst things about starting back at Aquinas College for a new year. Top of the list was catching up with friends they hadn’t seen over the holidays.

“We were away during the holidays”, commented Liam, Yr. 10, “so I didn’t get to catch up with some of my friends”.

India, Year 9 agreed. “It has been so good seeing my friends again, but not so good having homework to do – on the 1st day back!”

“It’s nice to have new people in my class that I can get to know”, said Mia Year 9.

Not having a home room is a change that Year 9 students have noticed when moving into the Junior School. “I don’t like having to carry around such a heavy bag all day”, commented Charlize Yr 9.

Compared to primary school, big changes are experienced by our Year 7 students, joining the college for the first time. Kiern, Yr 7 commented that following a timetable can be confusing, while Jesse, Yr 7 was having a hard time making it to the bus on time after school.

“I like all the new subject choices”, commented Henry, Yr 7. “I can’t wait to do Hard Tech, Food Tech and Music”.

For our Year 13 students entering their last year of high school, adjusting to the routine of school was a challenge. “I like seeing all my friends again but it’s hard waking up early” said Ani Yr 13.

“I like having a routine again”, said Caitlin Yr 13 “but I’m not  as excited about my workload and having to do it!”.
