Scholarship Religious Studies has been pioneered this year by our beginning and very passionate teacher, Mr Andrew Duncanson. He has encouraged students to not only engage and grow in their personal faith but to also see Religious Studies as a highly academic course. We are very blessed to have him in our Religious Education learning area.
Here are some comments offered by students about the new course:
“As Scholarship Religious Studies is new this year, we’ve had a challenging but exciting time getting to be the first candidates. The philosophical element has interested me greatly, especially learning about informal logic. We’ve also had the opportunity to attend a series of online lectures with other schools around New Zealand, which have been enormously helpful in my preparation for the scholarship exam. The program overall has added an element of academic approach to my faith, necessary in the 21st Century. It has been worth the early mornings!”

“I have loved being one of the scholarship RE guinea pigs this year. Our topic for the year has been the effect that great thinkers have had on religion which has been fascinating to me, all be it a little confusing at times! I’ve loved learning about the modern & historical (super dead) figures and having some healthy debates along the way. I can’t wait to be involved again next year!”
