Well, the heat did not stop the rowing last weekend! Four days of blistering heat and blistering pace.
At the North Island Club Championships, Elliott Janissen won a Bronze medal in the Senior Coxless Four under the new classification system. These medals are hard to win. He plans to continue rowing at University.
Aoife Taylor and Stella Janissen competed in the Cambridge Town Cup school competition held over the same weekend. They competed in 2 bigger crews with the Mount College girls gaining 6th place in the an Eight and a Quad. They also gained 2nd place in the B Final of the U16 Double. A great effort in some tough events. Little sister, Aine Taylor, coxed several of the races.
3 of the World Championship medal winning Irish Mens’ team are over here on tour, they didn’t manage to beat any of the NZ crews but had a great time trying! They even took a hilarious turn in the commentary box. Word is, they love NZ so much they are coming back.
