Riveting Action at Water Polo

AC water polo mounted a bold battle against Auckland’s Kristen School today. Luckily, our AIMS Reporters were poolside to catch all the action.

The AC water polo team put up an outstanding fight today against tough opponents Kristen School. The team ended up losing – their first defeat of the tournament.

Aquinas MVP Max Page was disappointed at the loss but is proud of the team and what it has accomplished. He was happy to be MVP because he had to mark a very hard player.

Today, the Aquinas water polo team had us all cheering as it battled Kristin School in a tough match that could have gone either way. 

The team left the swimming pool with a 5-3 loss. Although disappointed, the team was happy with how it played. 

Year 8’s Will Etherington said it was a “tough” but “very fair” game. I think we played very well today.”  

Keen to play again, Will said he tried his best and played alright.

Today,  we interviewed the AC water polo coach Duncan Etherington after the team’s 3-5 loss to Auckland’s Kristin School.

He was proud of the team, adding that they all played exceptionally well. “We did really well as this has been our hardest game yet. Our team was amazing at working together and keeping the score close.” 

He loves how hard the team has been working and is proud of MVP Max Page, and Irene Seo who has improved so much since the start of the year.

The horn blast signalled the start of the AC versus Kristen School water polo clash. AC players were focused, in sync, and communicating perfectly. 

For the first quarter, the score was level 1-all. AC supporters were cheering loudly and AC spirit was high. 

But ultimately AC lost 3-5 to their Auckland rivals. AC didn’t take out the win this time but is looking sharp for the next match.

Q: How do you feel about your game?

A: “I feel good.”

Q: How do you feel about being the most improved player?

A: “I feel pretty good about it.” 

Q: How do you think you played today?

A: “I think I played good this game.”

Q: Do you think your team played well?

“Yes, the team definitely played well.”
