Remembering Monsignor Joe Stack

Last month, the Aquinas College community paused to honour the life and legacy of Monsignor Joe Stack, who passed away suddenly. Mons Joe was a cherished friend of our school whose influence will not be forgotten.

Aquinas was privileged to share a long and meaningful association with Mons Joe. He was a founding member of the College Board, serving from 2003 to 2012, and was deeply involved in the spiritual life of our school as Parish Priest. He visited regularly to celebrate Mass and was well known for his jovial personality.

Just last year, Mons Joe celebrated 50 years in the priesthood. In announcing his passing, the Hamilton Diocese shared these words:

“Mons Joe loved the Lord, His Church and the Lord’s people. He had a particular heart for those at the margins. Just last week, he was visiting Waikeria as a part of his ongoing ministry in the prisons as chaplain. Joe’s love of and care for his brother priests is legendary, and his passing has left many of us deeply touched.”

May Mons Joe rest in God’s eternal peace. Haere atu rā
