Did Shakespeare ever get rained on? Probably. But did the show go on? Oh yes it did. And that was exactly what happened when a group of 45 Year 12 and 13 English and Drama students went to the Pop Up Globe in Auckland on Weds 8th March.
The heavens opened well before curtain call, but – miracle of miracles – they cleared by the time we arrived for the much anticipated production of Much Ado About Nothing. The Polynesian inspired event was just that – an event, a dynamic, original event! Superb acting, laugh-out-loud humour and fabulous audience involvement made for a unique and invigorating theatre experience. Shakespeare appreciation at its best!
So, would 45 Year 12 and 13 students recommend the trip? Oh yes they would. Even if it’s raining.
