Principal Appointment Process

Thank you to the parents/whanau who participated in the recent ‘survey monkey’ feedback process that the Board initiated to further inform the Principal appointment process.  Parent/whanau feedback was collated, along with feedback from students and College staff.

1.The characteristics or qualities that parents/whanau were looking for in the new leader of Aquinas College helped to inform the advertisement, and more detailed person specification, which formed part of a comprehensive application pack.

The Advertisement can be viewed here: Principal Application Ad

2. The opportunity that parents/whanau would like to see the College explore assisted the Board to determine the next stages in school review, such as the Charter and Strategic Plan, and some of the areas that the new Principal could assist the Board in doing.

The main areas suggested included curriculum review, digital opportunities and ICT, future focused, career pathways, celebrating diversity, developing school infrastructure, and strengthening the school culture (including Catholic Character), and strengthening links with the community.

To update you on the appointment process, the applications have now closed, and the Board is completing the next phase which includes shortlisting and interviews, following processes in-line with legal requirements, and in consultation with our priests and the Catholic Diocese of Hamilton.

The community will be advised once an appointment has been confirmed.

The Finance and Property Committee with support of the board has agreed to get 2 x 20 ft new well aerated containers for the PTA and Sport for storage and has supported an initiative around helping support getting new cricket nets and a storage shed for this area.
