Physical Eduction and Fun Challenges!

Try something new – try something that challenges you!  That has been the theme in the Health & Physical Education faculty this term.

Year 12

Y12 Sports Science class headed off to Whakapapa Ski Field in Tongariro’s National Park for a three-day trip snowboarding and skiing experience. The weather delivered blue skies and better snow than was expected. By the end of the three days, the students showed massive improvement with the final day spent skiing laps on the Rangatira express hitting all the jumps they could find. Big shout out to Mr Kennedy, Mr Watson and Helen Loe for coming along on the trip.

Year 11

Our Year 11 Sports science class was also learning new skills and were challenged with mastering how to juggle and unicycle. They certainly had to push themselves beyond their comfort zones to conquer something they’ve never done before. At first glance, it looks easy…maybe risky or even dangerous?! But this was a chance for some problem-solving, and pushing their limits to succeed! Some overachievers could juggle while riding a unicycle!!

Year 9

Movement Education for PE with our Year 9 group:
Finally a huge thank you to Aquinas College parent and fantastic dance teacher, Ati Aaifou-Olive! Students from 9T with teacher Ms Park threw themselves into the physical and highly synchronised session learning the ‘Sasa’ – a traditional ‘slap dance’ used to wake us from dreaming. Ati’s love of movement in his Samoan culture and his training style culminated in an exhilarating performance…9T you nailed it!
