On behalf of the Aquinas College Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Matthew (Matt) Dalton as our next Principal. Matt will join Aquinas College ready to begin Term One next year.
Matt joins us from Rotorua Boys’ High School, where he has been a successful leader since 2010, with the last four years as Deputy Principal responsible for teaching and learning. The Board visited Matt in his school, and were impressed with the contributions he has made to school development and student achievement. Matt’s strengths include leading curriculum and review, developing teaching practices, building collaboration, implementing initiatives around digital technologies, engaging students in their learning, and determining a future-focused vision. Matt also had the role of Housemaster for the school’s hostel, and enjoyed being able to provide the pastoral support for the boarders.
Matt is excited about joining Aquinas College’s Catholic community. He attended Catholic Schools, including Sts Peter and Paul School (Lower Hutt), St Mary’s Schools (Tauranga and Rotorua), and John Paul College (Rotorua). He is strongly motivated to be a leader in a Catholic School, and to inspire and model his faith for our students and staff.
We look forward to welcoming Matt’s wife Kelly, and his two sons Jono and Oliver to the Aquinas College family. Matt enjoys spending time with his family, and being involved with sports and exercise, including hockey and golf, and completing a recent Ironman triathlon.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to once again acknowledge Ray Scott for his 7 years of leadership at Aquinas College. Farewell events are being planned for Term 4 and the dates and details for these will be communicated to you soon.
Wishing you all an enjoyable and safe holiday break.
Scott Kahle
Board Chairperson
