Incredibly, we are almost one third of the way through the senior academic year. All students should be well underway with internal assessments and have a number of results from standards already completed.

Remember that a student needs to gain 50 credits at Excellence for a certificate endorsed with Excellence. If a student gains 50 credits at Merit (or Excellence) then they are awarded their certificate with a merit endorsement. Students can also gain subject endorsements by gaining 14 credits (of which at least 3 must be external and at least 3 must be internal) at Merit or Excellence. Information on endorsements can be found on the NZQA website at:

http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/qualifications-standards/qualifications/ncea/understanding-ncea/how-ncea-works/endorsements/

Do check up on your child’s progress.

NZQA have provided information online to help parents and students monitor their progress:

NCEA Students

Information on endorsements and current progress in NCEA can be found here:

            NCEA Guide for Parents

There is also an app for parents and caregivers. Information about this app is available at:

https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/understanding-ncea/mobile-app/

Remember that student results may also be accessed via the school portal.

Recently the minister of education announced changes to NCEA. The changes are being introduced over several years and students (and schools) shouldn’t notice major differences until 2022 when Level 1 NCEA changes are brought into full effect.

Information about the changes can be found at:
