Aquinas’ fast-paced Murray brothers have added more silverware to the trophy cabinet, striking gold at the NZ Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships.
All three brothers were named NZ team relay champions, with Vaughan also placing third in the junior boys’ individual race.
Vaughan (Yr 10) narrowly missed out on silver in the 4km event of the 50th annual champs, held in Christchurch last month. Hamish (Yr 13) placed fourth in the senior boys’ 6km, and Lachlan (Yr 9) 10th in the Year 9 boys’ 3km. All three won gold for Waikato BOP in the 4 x 2km regional teams relays – a decisive clean sweep for the region.
Hamish’s top-10 individual finish earns him a spot in the NZ team heading to Melbourne in August for the 2024 Australian Schools Cross Country Championships. Fantastic results.
