Millie Elliott and Jake Hynds are two Year 13 Drama students involved in this year’s school production, Bugsy Malone. Millie is playing Blousey Brown and Jake is Bronx Charlie. We caught up with them about how they are feeling about their upcoming performances.
What do you enjoy most about performing?
Millie: I love the feeling you get from being on stage. It’s such an adrenaline rush. The people are amazing. You become a large family all sharing the same goal.
Jake: I really love expressing myself. It’s about putting a smile on others’ faces as well as on mine.
What are you looking forward to in Bugsy Malone?
Millie: It’s the best feeling in the world when the curtain comes down on final night and everyone is so elated. This is what has helped to motivate me through the rehearsal period.
Jake: I’m looking forward to getting on stage (my first time at Baycourt!) and putting on a show with the Bugsy whānau – and I’m looking forward to the splurge guns!
