It has been a busy start to Term 2 for the Yr. 7 and 8 Department.
In week 2 we had Lex from Attitude come and talk to our students. Lex is a brilliant communicator and his message of being a good friend and making good choices certainly resonated with our students.
It was also great to see the Yr. 7/8 students embrace anti-bullying week and get involved in the activities on offer. The Pink Shirt mufti day was an opportunity for students to show their stance on this important topic. Special thanks to the Yr. 12 and 13 students who came into each of the Yr. 7 classes and taught lessons on this subject.
This year for Service Day we enjoyed a visit from Mr. Campbell Hill from the Good Neighbour Trust. Campbell talked to us about the work that his Trust is doing in our community. He challenged our students that service is based around doing ‘small things for people in need’. Our students also heard from some senior students and the service work that they do in their lives.
These inspiring stories enabled us as staff to introduce the Yr. 7/8 Service Journal which students will now work through until the end of the year. The journal is designed to inspire service into the lives of our students. We have asked the students share the journal with their parents and look for service opportunities together.
