Mau rākau is a form of traditional Māori martial arts that involves a series of skilful moves put to verbal commands and disciplines.  On Friday 7 July, our students have a wonderful opportunity to experience mau rākau with a talented group of young people who are experts in this field, known as ‘Ahorangi Next Generation’.  The programme involves up to 50 maximum students from each of the Intermediate, Junior and Senior levels.  At the end of the workshop, students will perform the skills they have learnt.

The programme is designed to provide the students with ‘activities unique to Aotearoa; to foster knowledge, tradition and movement skills from the past along with adapted contemporary movement.’ (Health and Physical Education online Ministry of Education website).

Any student interested in taking part should  email Whaea Bernadette .
