APPEARANCE & UNIFORM GUIDELINES

We believe it is important that our students are always dressed correctly and only wear items on the uniform list. We know this will give our students a sense of belonging and create an identity for the College in the community. Full school uniform is to be worn between College and home, both ways.

Hairstyles
Hair must be neatly presented, off the face, a natural colour, tidy and tied back (green / navy / black hairbands) when longer than the collar. Extreme hairstyles are not permitted – all haircuts and colours are at the Principal’s discretion.

Jewellery
A wristwatch, and one plain stud or sleeper in each ear are permitted. No other piercings are allowed.

Cultural / Religious Taonga
Taonga that carries cultural and/or religious significance are permitted and can be worn proudly.

Makeup
Natural makeup for basic skin coverage is permitted only. No other makeup is allowed, including nail polish.

Facial hair
Facial hair is not permitted.

Tattoos
Tattoos (except those that have cultural and/or religious significance) that would be visible when the summer or winter uniform is worn, are not permitted.

Other

  • Coloured T-shirts or skivvies are not permitted under shirts. Any clothing worn under the uniform must not be visible.
  • Shorts and trousers must be worn tidily at all times.
  • Knee-length socks must be worn up at all times.
  • Girls’ skirts must be worn at a modest length
  • School bags and Art/Graphics folders must be clear of graffiti and offensive messages.

Incorrect Uniform
A student with a uniform problem must bring a signed note from a parent /caregiver and obtain a uniform pass from the Tutor Teacher. This must be done before the school day begins. Otherwise, an after-school service may be issued.

YEAR 11 UNIFORM TRANSITION

Please note the following policy change: Year 11 students now wear the senior uniform traditionally only worn by Year 12 and 13 students. This change is being introduced throughout 2023, meaning Year 11 students are permitted to either wear their current uniform or the senior uniform. This change will give our Year 11 students a greater sense of transition into the senior school, not previously reflected by their uniforms.

SECOND-HAND UNIFORMS

The Second-Hand Uniform Shop is open every Tuesday during term time from 12.35 pm to 3.15 pm and is located next to the main office in the Administration block. It is open to students and parents. Purchases will be charged to students’ school accounts (students do not need payment at the time of purchase.) If a purchased item does not fit correctly we will happily exchange it.

The Uniform Shop is no longer accepting items to sell on behalf of families. We now only accept donated uniforms. This policy change ensures that all proceeds go to supporting needy students in our community. Donations can be dropped to the main office.

Please note that the Second-Hand Uniform Shop will not accept the following:

  • Garments that are unwashed.
  • Garments that are stained (including paint stains).
  • Garments that are torn.
  • Worn-out garments with missing pockets.
  • Faded navy junior school shirts, jerseys or cardigans.
  • Garments with broken zips.
