It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Cooney, a foundational figure in the establishment and growth of our Aquinas College community.
Michael’s immense contributions—from his pivotal role on the Establishment Committee to his many years of service as a Board member (2003-2017)—have left a lasting impact on our school. His generosity and support for the college continued well beyond these formal years of service. We are all richer for his dedication and love for our community.
Michael’s legacy will live on in the values and mission of our school, which were so dear to him. His commitment to our students and our Catholic college community has left an indelible mark. We will honour and remember him through our dedication to our work and in the growth of our students, ensuring that his spirit continues to inspire us.
Michael’s Requiem Mass will be held at St. Mary Immaculate Church on Friday, 16 August, at 12:10pm.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
