It’s now getting to the business end of the hockey season for our players at the Aquinas Hockey Club. This year we have 85 players across our intermediate and secondary school teams. Congratulations to our Girls 2nd XI team for winning the 3rd Division of Tauranga Hockey’s competition in the 1st round. They now move up to Division 2 for the 2nd round. Good luck girls!
We started Term 3 with some exciting news. Lysaght, a local Survey, Engineering and Planning company, have sponsored new jackets for the coaches and managers of our all our Aquinas Hockey teams. Special thanks to Mr. Mike Stott for arranging this sponsorship. Our coaches and mangers look very smart and warm on the side of the turf. If you need surveying, planning or engineering advice, please give Lysaght a call. – www.lysaght.net.nz . Thanks Lysaght for your support of Aquinas Hockey Club.
Also, we’re very pleased to announce that Aquinas Hockey Club was successful in obtaining funding from North and South Trust towards 4 sets of goalie equipment. This is one of our biggest equipment expenses and we are very grateful to North and South Trust for their support.
Aquinas Hockey Club has a number of tournaments and inter-school games over the next month:
Girls 1st XI Eveline Hankers Memorial Trophy – Taupo
Boys 1st XI Mayhill Cup – Rotorua
Intermediate 6-a-side Team – AIMS Competition – Tauranga.
We wish all the teams the very best in their games. Aquinas Hockey Club would like to acknowledge NZCT for providing some funding towards our Girls 1st XI team accommodation costs to attend Winter Tournament in Taupo. Many thanks NZCT.
To our coaches and managers…Thank you again for giving up your time and help coach and manage our students. Special thanks to Stu Sutherland who is having to step down as 1st XI Boys coach due to work commitments. Thanks Stu for all your work over the years for Aquinas Hockey Club and I’m sure we will catch you down at the turf. We are very pleased that our principal, Mr. Matt Dalton is stepping into the role as 1st XI Boy’s coach. Thanks Matt for stepping up to coach and we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
It is great to see David McNabb (Coach of Girls 2nd XI) and Claire Lovelace (Charlotte & Stanley Watson’s mum) for putting their names forward as managers of Tauranga representative teams.
Catch you down at the turf!
Donal Boyle, Chair of Aquinas Hockey Club.
