Our first group of students have made a great start on their Level 2 Barista course through the Gateway Work Experience scheme.
Designed to give the students practical customer service and retail work experience, Gateway means students will be skilled to apply for part-time work to help support them while studying or to even gain full-time roles in the hospitality industry. By the end of the programme, they’ll add advanced workplace first aid, marketing, staff management, cash handling, stock inventory, and make a great coffee too!
Tutor and Barista Neville Morgan shared with the students his many years of experience in the industry, talking them through the stages of good coffee making, customer expectations and working with each student to reach assessment.
This week 9 senior students completed a comprehensive Forklift Training Certificate.
This training is tailored to new operators and provides extra detailed theoretical understanding and a more extensive practical training experience.
At the end of the 2 day course the students are able to operate a powered industrial forklift in a warehouse situation and will use the qualification in their current job, or to gain part time employment in various companies around Tauranga such as MainFreight, Pack houses and Daltons Landscape Supplies.
