On a mild Wednesday in winter, a large group of 48 Year 11 and 12 Technology students struggled out of bed early for a 7 am departure to the annual Fieldays event at Mystery Creek. Visitor numbers attending this year were huge, with the country’s farming community having missed out in 2020. A longer than anticipated journey to the mighty Waikato, but clear skies and ground covered in frost greeted us as we stepped from the coach. We made our way through the scanning area and set out to explore all there was to see. It was more of a case of ‘whatever you can fit in within four hours!’ Students had a mandatory pitstop at the Innovation Centre where new products are in their infancy, a foods pavilion and an endless array of agriculture to engage the broader industry audience. As always, it was a fabulous learning experience and a momentous day had by all. Of course, our students represented Aquinas College with pride.
