Year 8 Puberty Unit

This is to inform you of the upcoming Puberty unit being taught to all Year 8 Students.  The unit of work will provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to develop positive attitudes towards the changes that are experienced during puberty.

The key concepts the students will learn about include:

• The physical, mental & emotional, social and spiritual growth and development that occurs during puberty
• Strategies to manage the changes they experience
• Factors that influence their choices during puberty (including family, peers, media and religious and cultural beliefs)
• Their own feelings, rights and responsibilities.

The unit will run for weeks five and six of Term Three.  If you have any question please feel free to either contact your child’s Health & Physical Education teacher or their Home room teacher.
