The Year 7 Beach Education programme for 2017 is on Thursday 7th December.
The programme is run by the Bay of Plenty Surf Life Saving Association and offers an opportunity for students to experience a fun, safe and educational day at the beach. Children are taught in-depth surf knowledge, also learning how to identify hazards such as rip currents, ways to keep themselves and others safe, and what action to take if they get into trouble.
This is a great programme for our students who may be heading to the rivers, lakes and beaches over the summer holidays. All Year 7 students are expected to attend.
Date: Thursday 7th December
Where: Mount Surf Club
Travel: Bus departs Aquinas College at 9am and returns at 3pm
Students will need to bring:
Warm clothes for before and after swimming
Togs & towel – (also plastic bag to put wet togs in afterwards)
Wetsuit if you have one or can borrow one.
Sunhat, sun block,
Lunch and a water bottle.
We require a number of parents to help on the day. You will only be required from 12 noon to 2pm. This is to help supervise the students during the water based activity. You should expect to get wet!! I also recommend bringing a wetsuit to wear as well.
