Emma Heads to Hungary for Basketball World Cup

The good times keep rolling for Aquinas basketball phenom Emma Rogers. She has just been selected to represent NZ in the U18 3×3 World Cup in Hungary next week.

Emma’s sister, Sophie, has been named as a non-travelling reserve.

Just last month, Emma was named the top female points scorer at NZ’s U18 Basketball Nationals. The impressive performance helped her BOP team finish second in NZ.

Emma averaged 40 points for the tournament and shot a high of 52 points in one game. She was named the tournament’s female MVP – just the second time the accolade has been awarded to a player not on the winning team.

After a seamless run, Emma’s BOP team was beaten by Waikato 84-92 in the final. Congratulations to Issy Gillard (Yr 11) who also played in the BOP side, taking on NZ’s top regional players during the Wellington tournament earlier this month.
