During Holy Week our College has taken time to contemplate the events which lead up to Easter Sunday. On Holy Thursday, a select group of students and staff participated in our pilgrimage from St Thomas More Catholic School to Aquinas College. Students in the Year 11 Discipleship, Year 12 Youth Ministry, and Year 13 Mission and Ministry classes took up the opportunity to meditate on Jesus’ journey to the Cross at different stages of the pilgrimage.
The day began at St Thomas More where we started with prayer and prayed at our first Station of the Cross. From there we began our pilgrimage and students, in groups, took turns carrying the cross. The students were then accompanied by three members of staff making their way back through Matapihi, over the footpath of the railway bridge to the centre of Tauranga, praying Stations of the Cross on our way.
We were welcomed into St Mary’s Catholic School to pray a Station of the Cross with Whānau McCabe before continuing up Cameron Road to Aquinas College in time for our Easter Liturgy. This was organised by the Student Executive and was shared in classes as we could not gather as a college.
