Aquinas College Cross Country

Friday 17 thMay

This year we are planning to hold the Aquinas Cross Country on Friday 17th May starting at 12.45pm.

A map of the course is included.  Runners will complete one and a half laps of the school grounds followed by a short detour out through the Cvitanovich corner walkway, down Alva Glenn into the gully by the playground and then back up through the gully out onto Pyes Pa Rd. From there they run back into the school grounds via the forest, before returning behind the Tech Block to the finish in the middle of the playing field.

The whole of the school will be out at the same time either running or watching.

The start times for each age group are listed below.  These are approximate times.  Parents are welcome to come and support during the day.

Year Start Time Distance Approximate Time

Y7 Boys and Girls 12.45pm 3 km 12-25 minutes
Y8 Boys and Girls 1.10pm 3 km 12-25 minutes
U14 Boys and Girls 1.35pm 3 km 11 -25 minutes
U16 Boys and Girls 2.00pm 3 km 11 -25 minutes
U19 Boys and Girls 2.25pm 3 km 11 -25 minutes

All students are required to run. This is a major House Event. Tutor teachers will be urged to fire up their classes this week to hammer the House point aspect and stress how vital it is to get ahead at the finish from someone of another House.

Correct House (PE) shirts are to be worn by all students Y7-Y10 Senior students no longer with fitting shirts are to be encouraged to wear a plain coloured T Shirt of their respective House Colours. We hope the weather is kind to us!

Note: In the event of atrocious weather, ONLY those students who wish to run will do so. We will run all students together in two races. U14, U16 and U19 starting at 1.40pm and Y7 and Y8 starting at 2.15pm.

BOPSS Cross Country Tuesday 21st May Waipuna Park

There is very little time between our school Cross Country and the BOPSS Championships being held at Waipuna Park. If your son or daughter arrives home following our school event (U14, U16 and U19 only) with a letter regarding these championships, it indicates he/she has finished in the top 10 and we would therefore hope that they can represent us on Tuesday.
