Five Aquinas teams took on the region’s top chess minds at the Bay of Plenty Interschool Chess Championship earlier this month.
Our top result came from the Aquinas A Year 8 team of Dash Rogacion, Olly Thom, Thinh Vo and Glenwill Shinoj, which finished fourth-equal among 15 intermediate teams from 10 local schools — just shy of the medals. 👏
Across the Aug. 12 event at the Greerton Community Hall, our 23 competitors from Years 8–12 each battled through six rounds, with plenty of close games and some impressive chess along the way.
