The Chanel Shield was held at John Paul College, in Rotorua. This annual event is named in honour of the Patron Saint of the Diocese, Peter Chanel. He was a French-born missionary priest who worked in the Pacific Region in the 19th century. The competition involves five secondary schools from the Diocese of Hamilton; Campion College, St Johns College, Sacred Heart College, John Paul College, and Aquinas College. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to not only showcase their talents but to gather and connect with other students from across the Diocese.
Congratulations to our students for these awesome results:
1st in Drama – Rachel Brebner, Sophie Tamblin, Jessica Phayer, Daisy Vahey-Bourne, Abigail Speight, Elizabeth Hodgson.
1st in Junior Poetry – Isaac Jarden.
1st in Senior Oratory – Abigail Speight.
3rd in Senior Bible reading – Jessica Phayer.
Special thanks to the effort put in by the English Faculty and Ms. Hayes for her presence and support over the weekend. Thanks also to Mrs. Harris and Mr. Roberson for preparing the students and supporting them throughout the competition.
