A huge shout-out to the Aquinas students and staff involved in “CATS – the Musical” which is generating rave reviews from Tauranga audiences.
AC Visual Arts and Drama Teacher Amy Lewin stars in the lead role of Grizabella, Year 11 dancer Krysta Stollery is in the ensemble cast, and trumpeter Ned Shaw (Yr 13) is a member of the show’s orchestra. Alex Wright, also Year 13, is the musical’s stage manager.
The production also features a host of former Aquinas faces. Recent AC Music Director, Lynda Cooney, is lead pianist, and 2018 AC alum Matthew Karton takes to the stage as Skimbleshanks. The show’s vocals include the voices of former AC music teacher Ashleen Fahy and Elisabeth Hanna. Kelsey Andrew, the choreographer and tutor of AC’s champion DanceNZMade troupe, dances in the role of Victoria. CATS is directed by Toni Henderson who directed numerous Aquinas shows including Cinderella Enchanted, the Sound of Music, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof and Bugsy Malone.
The production is playing at Baycourt until June 22.
