Yr. 10P Social Studies class is running a series of social action events to raise funds for the Caritas Lenten Appeal. The 2018 Appeal is in support of the people of Timor Leste (East Timor) who face many challenges due to a history of conflict. The focus is on aiding poor rural communities and in particular on empowering women to develop small business skills which will enable them to better provide for their families.
A series of fundraising and awareness events will be run between the 19th and 29th of March including a bake sale, sausage sizzle, coin trail, quiz, car wash and mufti day. We will also continue the tradition of our ‘Silence for Justice’ day where participating students will be sponsored to give up speaking for a day in solidarity with those who suffer injustice in silence.
Lent is a time of spiritual renewal where we put our faith into action through prayer, fasting and giving. Thank you on behalf of the people of Timor Leste for your generous support of this appeal.
