Business DigiTech USA Tour 2020

A packed itinerary which includes visits to the Apple, Google and Facebook campuses, NASA Ames Visitor Centre, Tech Museum of Innovation, Intel Museum, San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank, Stanford University and UCLA awaits 26 Year 12/13 students on the Aquinas College inaugural 2020 Digi Tech and Business Studies trip to the USA.

Taking in San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles the students will also have a bit of time to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Santa Monica and Venice Beach, Hollywood, Universal Studios and (in case they have any spare change on their last day) a visit to the Citadel Outlet Mall!

The tour represents a unique opportunity for the students to immerse themselves into the world’s largest innovative centre and to discover first-hand how US tech businesses operate and affect the global environment.  Guided tours and workshops will provide students with a truly insightful learning experience to increase their knowledge of developing technologies.

Thanks to all those who have supported our theatre, cinema, sausage sizzle, donut and baking fundraisers to date. Look out for our students at Mitre 10 and Bunnings on the sausage sizzle stands. Independence Day (4th July) will be marked with a lunchtime Hot Dog sale and there will be more donuts and baking on offer in term 3 (See below).

A huge thank you to all the businesses listed below who have come on board with some sponsorship. We are still looking for other sponsors if anyone is interested. Go to our website https://sites.google.com/view/aquinasusatour if you want to know more.

Students Voice:

Here’s what current Y12 Economics students – Adam Fowler and Olivia Hennessey, have to say about the trip:

“In just 2 weeks we are going to be exposed to a huge number of diverse business and innovation centres. I hope that the trip will help to inspire a future career direction for me in the world of economics. Santa Monica will also be a highlight.”  Adam Fowler.   “It is an exciting and unique experience. I am so excited to be able to travel across the world with my friends and learn new things about global businesses. It’s such an amazing opportunity to visit them and learn about the technology and workings behind them.” Olivia Hennessey.

Upcoming Events:

  • American (Independence Day) Hot Dog sale – Thursday 04th July
  • Rialto movie night – Lion King – Wednesday 17th of July (online ticket sales open now! – very limited tickets left)

Coming up in Term THREE:

  • American Brownies bake sale – Thursday 30th July
  • Mama’s donuts sale – Thursday 22nd August

We also have plenty more fundraisers like this on the horizon so watch the Aquinas College school notices, “schoolAppNZ” app, social media or check out our USA tour website Events page for upcoming events.

Thank you in advance everyone for supporting our fundraising efforts – its super appreciated.
