 Kia ora whanau

At the time of writing our second community Board Bits newsletter we, as a Board, have a key focus on the appointment process for a new principal of Aquinas College. This will be potentially the single most important Board decision during the term of many current members. I’d like to take this opportunity to provide information on the process currently underway.

The first step in this process is around community feedback, which will contribute to the Board’s own thinking around the qualities and experience required of our new principal. A survey has been made available to the community by email, where we are actively seeking feedback on some of the key attributes and suggestions around this appointment. Availability to provide feedback through this survey will close on Friday 7th July 2017.

There is a promotional programme underway covering various media that will advertise the vacancy from the 17th of July. We are looking to close off the application process by the end of August. We will then move into shortlist and interview stages. It is hoped that the appointment process will conclude at the end of September allowing the successful applicant to give their own notice period. This will enable a new principal to start at Aquinas College at the beginning of Term 1, 2018.

The Board has within its members, considerable skill to provide internal expertise around the educational, business and Special Character sectors of the school to govern this process. I would encourage you to have your own voice and utilise this survey to provide any feedback around the new Principal appointment.

Scott Kahle Board Chair
