Become an Aquinas Homestay Whānau for International Students

Aquinas College is looking for families interested in opening their homes and hearts to international students coming to study at AC to improve their English and immerse themselves into family life in Aotearoa.

You’ll get to experience different cultures and be able to share our Kiwi way of life with the full support and backing of AC’s friendly International team. Aquinas College has a strong focus on pastoral care, which means international students are well-supported, and by hosting them, you’re playing a key role in that support system.

It’s not just about offering an international student a place to stay – you’re helping them to feel at home and thrive. Plus, the connections you build can be incredibly rewarding, making their time at Aquinas College more memorable and enjoyable.

Being a host whānau can create lifelong friendships with people all around the world and maybe even start a worldwide network for your children’s future OE.  It’s a fantastic way to add some global diversity to your whānau life.

Here’s what some of our wonderful homestay whānau have to say about hosting international students:

The Lathan Family:  “We have two daughters aged 7 and 9, and for our 9-year-old, this was a chance for her to have an older sister, which she wouldn’t have had otherwise. Yuka slotted into our family very easily and has been an amazing role model for both girls. We have been driven to show Yuka as much of our city and our country as possible. We like to think that Yuka will return to Japan, having gained confidence and a better sense of herself after eight months in NZ. We are so grateful to Aquinas for this opportunity to host”.

The French Family:  We love having international homestays. We learn things about different countries and cultures, and having a student provides us with companionship.”
