Rotorua Rhapsody
Since 2001, the Rhapsody Rotorua has been a signature event for young musicians. Hundreds of students come together for 3 days of music making in orchestras, choirs, ensembles, jazz groups, stage bands, and more. They are adjudicated, take part in master classes and workshops, and a range of performance opportunities. due to the choir Sydney trip, we are sending a group of students to take part in the workshops but not the adjudicated competition for 2016.
Choir Workshop with David Squire
On February 19th, Voci Celesti (mixed choir) had the privilege of working with David Squire in a full day workshop. David is the Music Director of the New Zealand Youth Choir, been a music teacher for more than 25 years and in 2011 was awarded a New Zealander of the Year Local Heroes Medal for services to music education. Voci Celesti worked on their repertoire for the 27th Australian International Music Festival they are attending in July this year. The choir was inspired by David’s passion for excellence and wealth of experience; all the while being entertained by his humor and exuberance.
Voci Celesti Sydney Trip
Voci Celesti are travelled to Sydney from 3rd – 10th July 2016 to compete in the 27th Australian International Music Festival run by World Projects South Pacific. The choir was an amalgam of the girls’ choir (Elle Chante) and the boys’ choir (Acafellas), consisting of 33 students from year 8 to 13. They attended workshops and were adjudicated by leading choral experts. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly singing on the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall stage.
