A great day down at the Tauranga Domain recently, saw a big team of athletes representing Aquinas College at these championships. The weather played its part by staying warm and still, with not a lot of sun to burn the unwary competitor.
Aquinas had considerable success across a variety of athletic disciplines and our most successful athletes now go on to represent the school at the wider Waikato/BOP Championships to be held at Porritt Stadium in Hamilton on Saturday 25th March.
Highlight of the day was certainly seeing Hannah McGregor perform so brilliantly across four events for the U14 Girls. She won the Shot Put and Long Jump, was runner up in the discus and finished 3rd in the 100m. Reece McCarthy ran two superbly tactical races to take out the 800m and 1500m double, also in the U14 age group. Other notable performances came from Petra Gough in the senior girls, Sam O’Connor U16 boys and Brayden Dew U14 boys.
