Volleyball at Aquinas College is a popular choice among all year groups, but especially with our Year 7/8 students. Games are played at either QEYC Arena, Memorial Park in Tauranga or at the ASB Arena at Baypark, Mount Maunganui. There are opportunities for teams to attend the North Island Champs, New Zealand Champs and also several Bay of Plenty competitions throughout the year.

Registrations for Volleyball in Term 1 are now open and close on Tuesday 8 February. Please view on the Registration and Trials tab.

We are very pleased to provide you with information for the Volleyball season. The details for the season are:

Year 7/8 New Format

The format of Volleyball for Y7/8 changed in 2021 when we recognised a need to strengthen our Volleyball Programme at Aquinas College, and believe the best way to do this is to start with our Year 7 and 8’s.

Over the past few years, student participation has been increasing while parent volunteers for Coaching and Managing have decreased. We are hoping that by putting more time and energy into this year group, we will be more successful at attracting students to the sport, and them staying in the sport as they go through Aquinas College.

Social players play here in the Aquinas College Gym on a Thursday afterschool. Students focused on skills for the first part of the session and then moved into games for the second part.

For our competitive Y78 Students, we will hold trials for Girls and Boys teams to be selected and play in the Tauranga Volleyball league on a Friday evening. The number of teams entered into this competition is dependent on the number of students who show the skills required and having parents who have volleyball experience and be available to coach/manage the teams while they are playing.
