Aquinas College Hockey
Aquinas College Hockey has a great following with 1st and 2nd XI Teams for our Secondary students and 11 and 6 aside teams for our Year 7/8 students. The Hockey Committee is run by a dedicated group of parents alongside TIC, Mr Richard Watson. The 1st XI Girls and Boys Teams compete at the NZ Secondary Schools Tournament in Week 7, Term 3 and we also attend the NZ AIMS GAMES with Year 7/8 students in Week 8, Term 3.

Trial Information
All trial dates will be announced mid Term 1.
We will be running trials for the following teams: Boys’ 1st XI, Girls’ 1st XI and Intermediate Blue teams. All players are encouraged to have a go and try and make selection for these top teams.
We are very pleased to provide you with information for the Hockey season. The details for the season are:
Playing Venues
Most games will be played at the Tauranga Hockey Centre, Blake Park, however some games during the season may be played also at Tauranga Boys College or Bethlehem College.
Trainings
Training days/times will be decided by individual Team Management and could commence during the last few weeks of Term 1 or during the school holidays. During the school term, they will generally be held on the Aquinas College Turf and may be held either before or after school. Cancellations need to be phoned in to the school office before 12.30pm and will be displayed outside the office area and in the gym.
Competition
Weekly competitions are organised by the Tauranga Hockey Association (THA) and will run over Term 2 and 3. It is important to check the draw for each week carefully as venues and times may change from week to week.
Players will be expected at the venues 30 minutes prior to their match for warm up. This will be confirmed by the team coach.
Year 7/8 teams will play on Friday evenings
1st XI teams will play on Wednesday evenings
2nd XI Girls team will play on Monday evening and the 2nd XI Boys team will play on Tuesday evening
Draw and Cancellations
You can access the draw each week on the THA Website by clicking on the Draw and Results tab along the top and then selecting the applicable age group.

Uniform
Players will be issued with a Hockey uniform for the season. Students will be responsible for collecting their own playing uniform during towards the end of Term 1 from the sports office. Dates and times will be announced via the Daily Notices so please ensure you are checking these. The same items are to be returned to the Sports Office the week following their last game.
Equipment
Students are to provide their own hockey stick, shin pads, mouth guard and turf shoes.
