A huge round of applause for AC’s champion EPro8 team! Year 10’s Patrick Nelis, Ben Talbot, Jin Tumbokon and Oliver Laurie beat the top 12 teams from the BOP and Waikato to emerge as EPRo8 Challenge Champions.
In a nail-biting finish that saw the boys see-saw between first and third place, the team proved its problem-solving prowess with a 10-point lead to clinch the Yr 9-10 finale.
The Aquinas team had won every round in the lead-up to the Waikato/BOP grand final, held in Hamilton on July 5. Finalist teams had to engineer fiendishly tricky creations including a water balloon crane and other party-themed inventions.
Earlier that week, AC’s Year 11-13 team of Ture Hansson, Shiloh Bantugan, Monique Faire and Jake Bollee made it to the senior Grand Finals, finishing a reputable seventh equal.
Kudos also to Oliver Marr, Eamon Rogers, Adrian Adelaide and Jamie Robinson who made it to the semi-finals of the Year 9-10 contest.
Hats off to Seokhyeon Moon, George McKinnon, Zachary de Graaf and Jackson McHugh who got to the same stage in the Year 7-8 competition, an impressive achievement when most of them are only Year 7. Congrats all.
